2D Lines and Polygons go the "wrong way"

This post was updated on .
When using a 3D projection, if I add a line with two points that goes from Hawaii to Japan, it is drawn correctly, taking the shortest path across the Pacific.  If I add the same line to a 2D scene, the line gets drawn going the wrong way, going from west to east over North America, Europe, and Asia.  Polygons behave the same way.

Is there some property or symbol I need to add to the feature to get it to properly interpolate around the edges of the map in 2D, or is this something I'm going to have to detect and correct myself by breaking lines and polygons into multiple parts?

Edit: For lines I'm creating a LineString symbology and using a LineSymbol.  For polygons I'm using a Polygon symbology with a LineSymbol (for the outline) and a PolygonSymbol (for the fill)

Here's an example of what I'm seeing.
