Atlas: integrate osgEarth features more easily

We are trying to build an osgEarth program where new features can be added as plugins.

We call it project Atlas (demos available).

Some common features are done:

  • Qt5 integration
  • Cross platform
  • Uniform data management
  • Projected and geodetic *.earth support
  • Split screen views
  • Deployment scripts and customizable Ui style

And there's the plugin system

  • A plugin interface that handles some common features
  • Plugins are loaded on start, and compiled separately
  • A list of basic & thirdparty plugins

And we provide a full pre-built dev pack for windows with:

  • All dependencies
  • osg 3.6
  • osgQt
  • osgEarth 2.10

If you are just trying to implement a simple feature, you may have a look at Atlas and save some time from starting over again.

It's open source: https://github.com/tqjxlm/Atlas

Re: Atlas: integrate osgEarth features more easily

This looks really great, thanks for sharing!

I downloaded it and saw there was a VR mode.  I tried clicking on it but it didn't do anything as far as I can tell.  I've got an HTC Vive, does it work on that?

Thanks!

Jason

Re: Atlas: integrate osgEarth features more easily

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the feedback!

The VRMode works fine in my environment, with HTC Vive and SteamVR. Maybe the initialization process is not robust in our implementation. It's a thirdpart plugin and I'll contact the author about the issue.

You might also fire an issue in the github issues page, so we can get more details about the issue and inform you when it's solved.

Thanks

Re: Atlas: integrate osgEarth features more easily

Hi Lucy,

Thank you for the feedback!

The VRMode plugin is confirmed to malfunction. We'll address the issue soon.

A fixing branch will come about in the next few days, and you can follow the issues page for any progress.

As for the building issue, you could try the code from struct-more-osgearth branch. The prebuilt dev package is up-to-date with that branch. It's under review, so not merged into master yet, though the dev release is built using it.

If there's any further problem, please let me know. Your feedback is most welcome.

Thanks!
