Gaps in low-res elevation data

Hi,

boulder_co_dem_low_32613vp345C.tif
boulder_co_dem_high_insetvp3461.tif
test_earth.earth

When I read the above earth file into osgviewer, I get gaps in between the tiles of certain LODs.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jesse

Re: Gaps in low-res elevation data

With nodata that low I would try increasing your skirting ratio.

Re: Gaps in low-res elevation data

Thanks for your reply Adam. I don't think it's a skirting issue because osgEarth is actually creating geometry in between those gaps. Perhaps this picture will better illustrate:

Re: Gaps in low-res elevation data

Ah, ok, now I get it.  Sorry, I was misinterpreting the data last time.  Not sure what to do for this one.

Hey Jesse,

I took a look at this today and committed a fix for it that seems to work.  The issue was some small rounding errors that was causing the elevation sampling to to work correctly along the edges in some cases.  I've fixed the issue in the GDAL driver as well as in the GeoExtent contains function and all seems well now.

Check out the trunk and see if it solves this issue.

Thanks again for providing data, it really helps.

Jason

Re: Gaps in low-res elevation data

Hi Jason,

Just got a chance to update to trunk. Your fix did the trick.

Thanks!
