Gentoo Linux Portage Removal

I just wanted to let you know that osgEarth is being masked for removal from Gentoo portage.  One of our developers uses Gentoo Linux as his primary development platform and happened to notice it today.  From the bug report it looks like they have an inconsistency between OSG and osgEarth versions:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=592994

Unfortunately they have chosen to remove the ebuild for it rather than fix the problem since no proxy maintainer is assigned to osgEarth.  I thought I would let you know in case anyone in the osgEarth community wants to be a maintainer and help keep it in portage.

Re: Gentoo Linux Portage Removal

That issue no longer exists in osgEarth 2.8, which is the latest release.

Re: Gentoo Linux Portage Removal

We told them updating to osgEarth 2.8 would fix the problem but they are going to delete anyway on Nov 8 since there is no maintainer for the package.
