Google Has Updated Version Numbers

Hi all,

Google has updated its version numbers for the following:

satellite:  37
labels:  w2t.92
roads:  w2.92

Would it be possible to add an optional <version> tag to the .earth file so that a recompile isn't needed when Google updates version numbers?

Thanks,

Donny

Re: Google Has Updated Version Numbers

Have they changed it again? I'm not sure where to look (is it here: http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/wiki/JavascriptMapsAPIChangelog ?).  It's either that or i got banned :D (i don't know how to check for that either).

>osgviewer google_imagery.earth
Couldn't get tile for 0_0_0
Couldn't get tile for 0_1_0
osgviewer: No data loaded

So where do we find the version number, and how do we know we got banned?
Thank you

Re: Google Has Updated Version Numbers

Hi Claudiu,

It looks like the version # is now 39.  I've updated the Google plugin to account for that in SVN.  You can also add a <version>39</version> tag to your google image element and it should be good to go.

Also, as usual, keep in mind that the Google plugin is for educational use only of how to use a spherical mercator source in osgEarth and you must abide by Google's terms of service when using their data.

Thanks!

Re: Google Has Updated Version Numbers

Where can we check what the current Version number is?

Also is this how you would use the version tag:

  <image name="Google maps satellite imagery" driver="google">
               <dataset>satellite</dataset>
               <version>40</version>
   </image>

Thanks  :)

Re: Google Has Updated Version Numbers

Hi Nelson,

That is how you would use the version tag, it looks like the version has been bumped to 41.  I've updated it in the osgEarth source.
