How to load dataset after 3.0 version?

How to load dataset after 3.0 BUILD?

Previously (2.8 version)
<url>.\DTED1_SC</url>
  <extensions>dt1</extensions>
I loaded it all at once like this.

However, it seems that the extensions keyword has been removed since version 3.0.
What keywords replace the <extensions> keyword?

Re: How to load dataset after 3.0 version?

Correct - we removed the ability to load an entire folder like that. The feature was broken in many ways and had several caveats.

The proper approach is to create a VRT using the gdalbuildvrt tool. VRT is a format that creates a "virtual dataset" out of multiple files. (This is essentially what 2.x was doing before anyway.) Something like:

gdalbuildvrt myfile.vrt *.dt1

Then you should be able to just load "myfile.vrt" in your GDALElevation layer:

<GDALElevation>
    <url>DTED1_SC/myfile.vrt</url>
    <vdatum>egm96</vdatum>
</GDALElevation>

(I added the "vdatum" element because DTED data is referenced to the EGM96 geoid and you need to tell osgEarth that.)

Hope this helps.
