Strange message in the log, proxy not working

Hi Everyone,

I'm just a beginner, and I try to learn how works this fantastic framework.

I tried to set the proxy into an earth file. Unfortunately it doesn't work.
When running with OSG_NOTIFY_LEVEL set to INFO, I noticed that some plugins are missing. But I never found them, and no one mentions them in any post. So I wonder if my installation is correct. Here part of the log:

For information, I'm running with:
- OSG 3.6.3
- OsgEarth 2.10
- compiled with Visual Studio 2017 under Windows 10

Is someone have any idea about this issue?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

David,

At first glance, your path is not set to include the OSG installation directory.  I would try to locate osg.dll which was built with OSG 3.6.3 and make sure its installation location is in your path.  In the osgEarth cmake configuration, there is a CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX or INSTALL_TO_OSG_DIR to set the install location of the osgEarth dlls.

In reply to this post by gwaldron
Hi Glenn, Thanks for replying. Here the file, but not sure it will be useful. This file comes from annotation.earth from "tests" folder. I've just added proxy information and change the projection: host= "myProxyserver.mycompany.fr" port= "8080" username = password = plate-carre http://readymap.org/readymap/tiles/1.0.0/7/ http://readymap.org/readymap/tiles/1.0.0/116/ ../data/placemark32.png <style type="text/css"> text-declutter: true; text-halo: #777; </style> 50km <style type="text/css"> fill: #ffff0080; stroke: #ffffff; stroke-width: 2px; altitude-clamping: terrain-drape; </style> I will test the suggestion from Paul and let you know. Thanks again for your help. David

Hi Glenn,

I did it like that:

What I noticed first: the "osg.dll" doesn't exist anywhere. There is this list of dlls : osg158*.dll wher we can find osg158-osg.dll.
Maybe the issue starts from here...

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

I would try disabling OSG_MSVC_VERSIONED_DLL in osg cmake and rebuild.  That will give you osg.dll rather than osg-158.dll

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

Hi Paul,

I'm now fighting with another issue. After disabling the OSG_MSVC_VERSIONED_DLL, I could not launch the INSTALL project in the OSG solution, and only in Debug. It failed when compiling:

>CMake Error at src/osg/cmake_install.cmake:67 (file):
1>  file INSTALL cannot find
1>  "H:/OSG/OpenSceneGraph-3.6.3/build/bin/PREFIX-NOTFOUNDosgd.pdb".
1>Call Stack (most recent call first):
1>  src/cmake_install.cmake:38 (include)
1>  cmake_install.cmake:109 (include)
1>
1>

When searching for the issue, it goes to this file:

if("x${CMAKE_INSTALL_COMPONENT}x" STREQUAL "xlibopenscenegraphx" OR NOT CMAKE_INSTALL_COMPONENT)
  if("${CMAKE_INSTALL_CONFIG_NAME}" MATCHES "^([Dd][Ee][Bb][Uu][Gg])$")
    file(INSTALL DESTINATION "${CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX}/bin" TYPE FILE FILES "H:/OSG/OpenSceneGraph-3.6.3/build/bin/PREFIX-NOTFOUNDosgd.pdb")
  endif("${CMAKE_INSTALL_CONFIG_NAME}" MATCHES "^([Dd][Ee][Bb][Uu][Gg])$")
endif()

Any idea where it could come from? I'm still learning!!!

Thanks.

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

David, I am not sure about that error, but are you willing to try vcpkg?

That will at least get you up and running with osg and setup the osgearth.build

which will build all the dependencies including osg and setup cmake to find all those dependencies for the osgEarth build.

You have to install vcpkg first and then follow the osgEarth docs.

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the tip but that's was I did for all dependencies except osg.
I would like to try osg independently first before testing osgEarth. That's why I played first with osg and would like to benefit from this for osgEarth

I will try again using vcpkg for all dependencies.

I will let you know.

Thanks again.

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

Sorry about the versioned dlls.  Prior to that, you were able to run osgearth_viewer  simple.earth and it worked correctly?

Can you run your proxy .earth file with OSGEARTH_NOTIFY_LEVEL set to INFO so we might see what is failing.

Yes it works correctly with simple earth file.

My first message was done with OSGEARTH_NOTIFY_LEVEL set to INFO. I give you the full file

I meant set osg_notify_level to warn and osgearth_notify_level to info so we can see the osgearth messages.

Re: Strange message in the log, proxy not working

Hi Paul,

That's very strange. Setting OSGEARTH_NOTIFY_LEVEL to INFO, I received the message "osgearthviewer.exe is not a valid Win32 application", then in the command prompt, the message displayed is "Access denied".

I think I will build again osgEarth starting from a fresh source, and using vcpkg. There is probably an issue with my installation/compilation that I could not retrieve. I will do all steps again and I will let you know if this issue appears again.

Thank you all.

David
