Using a publically available WMS

Hi Guys,

I found out there are some server available for free Public usage through WMS. I want visualize these WMS server data through osgEarth, but not sure how to do it.
For example on the site : http://iceds.ge.ucl.ac.uk/
there is http://iceds.ge.ucl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/icedswms?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities link for WMS capabilities.

How can this information be used for constructing .earth file ?

Kind Regards
RJ

Re: Using a publically available WMS

Hi RJ,

From inspecting the results of the GetCapabilities request, you can find a list of the available layers on the server and what format they are in.  Then, you can set up an image source in a .earth file like so:

<image name="iceds" driver="wms">
       <url>http://iceds.ge.ucl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/icedswms</url>
       <layers>srtm30</layers>  <!--You can replace this layer name with other layers from the GetCapabilities request-->
       <format>jpeg</format>
       <tile_size>256</tile_size>
       <srs>epsg:4326</srs>
</image>

Thanks!
