WMS Service unavailable

I am trying to load OSM features from MapServer to display them in an OsgEarth application.  I have tired a number of methods without success.  The earth project dataset has to be cached to use off line.  I started with shapefile and could display the road network but could not cache it.  Then tried WMS but I get an error message EarthSerializer2 layer "Roads" : Service unavailable : Failed to create driver "wms" .  I patterned the earth file on the nextrad earth file in the test directory.  osgdg_osgearth_wmsd.dll is in the debug directory with the executable.  when I open the dll in depends it does not indicate any missing dependencies.

So the questions
  1. should the shapefile be able to be cached?
  2. what might I be missing in the WMS attempt?
  3. since this is vector data I would prefer to load it as a model instead of an image.  Is WFS supported in the current release?

Re: WMS Service unavailable

Bruce,
"Failed to create driver" means that osgEarth could not find the plugin (perhaps not in your path) or could not load the plugin (perhaps compiled against the wrong version).

You should post your earth file for review.
